The muddy mare

For whatever reason, Weston-super-Mare doesn’t get the credit it deserves. I would imagine most Somerset locals have visited this location before in the past with fond memories though?! Having initially planned an evening trip for a potential sunset/high tide with the odd experimentation with a long-exposure shot or two, but having woke up in the middle of the night and couldn’t get back to sleep - checking the weather forecast gave me the motivation to drive to the coastal town to try my luck. Fortunately, I had already charged my camera batteries the previous evening - having got caught out the last time I made a trip to this location, I've been prepared ever since! At low-tide, the Somerset beaches can be a little unpredictable/awkward due to the tricky mudflats and can sometimes be difficult to spot (especially in poor lighting). My visit was brief, and I was back home by noon (look out for the photo I took of the speed camera in the ‘Miscellaneous’ gallery, it certainly made me smile driving back to Bristol).

I will return for an evening photography trip at some point when conditions are favourable again. Although the morning trip ticked a few boxes, it appeared to be a bit of a surprise...
