Rural exploration

An early morning exploring the vibrant tones around the rural countryside within Wiltshire. The long summer days can provide a lot of harsh light for photographers - especially when it comes to panoramic landscapes. The hours of sunrise/sunset remain the optimal time for those elusive, atmospheric scenes! I tried my hand at astrophotography yet again. It's something I'm still learning about. The requirement to sacrifice sleep and rest can be tough, although the results always seem to be worthwhile (I think)... Luckily, in the South-West, there's a wide range of unique scenes filled with the unconventional and unexpected. With a little reading and planning, it can be surprising what uncovered gems are out there. Love them or loathe them, drones are a very useful addition to a photographer's kit, simply because they offer a great opportunity to scout an area of interest, which also gives a creative perspective, but there's still something about them that I just can't quite put my finger on...

It can be a big ask to get a shot you desire - the preparation, anticipation and the luck involved all play a part in what the final image or set will produce. Sometimes, if things aren't going your way, it's best to look and explore other compositional options and maybe plan a return visit. Even if you don't take your elusive shot, learn about the location/lighting and who knows? Another day, another season - things may work out better than you initially planned...
