Overnight coastal excursion

Perhaps one of the more random moments of my photography journey to date - an overnight excursion on the beaches of Dorset. A peaceful evening driving down to the Jurassic Coast - arriving at my chosen location just after midnight. Relishing the opportunity to try my hand at astrophotography and be greeted with a sunrise at the end of the mission! Having clocked up a number of reading hours about the practices of astrophotography in recent weeks, I felt prepared and excited. It's also something I'm keen to learn/explore more about in the future... My thoughts and feelings from this project can be a little difficult to summarise, a lot of emotions from the events unraveling before my eyes were pretty surreal. Walking on completely remote beaches overnight, the headlamp was something I relied heavily upon. The exploration in itself really was out of this world, and I'm looking forward to planning more overnighters in the future...

Over the past few months, I've been experimenting with/testing a Drone I recently acquired. There's no question about its impressive build and engineering, along with the unbelievable qualities of scouting locations and making videos. Although I can't help but feel a little disconnected from it when it comes to photography. You just can't beat the magic of capturing moments from the camera lens in your hands - adjusting the settings manually to suit your preferences for the events happening before you is something that will always be more special...
