Midland jewel

Returning to the urban environment. Admittedly - I do occasionally miss the hustle and bustle of the city, there's just something about it... Birmingham in general is a new spot for me, spending a couple of days here was something I didn’t originally plan on doing. Although feeling the need to explore the city in further depth for another day was very appealing. After deciding to book a hotel room, it proved to be the best decision for early morning photography. I spent the majority of the morning around Digbeth - discovering the old Custard Factory, adorned with character and charisma (I really hope they don’t gentrify this part of the city). The canal network also didn’t disappoint - the reflections on offer during the early hours left me spoilt for choice - one of the main reasons for wanting to stay an extra day....

The architecture in this city blew me away and to my surprise, it wasn't what I was expecting (in a good way). I think the future of Birmingham is bright - it's definitely got something going for it - a Midland jewel…
